In my previous post, I wrote about the coaching services I provide for individuals. If you missed it, I shared that my coaching philosophy is to help others live their best lives, and that is a cause about which I am extremely passionate. Another area of passion for me is special education. As an educator who spent the majority of her teaching career in special education, I am an expert at navigating the special education system, helping parents understand their rights and responsibilities, and advocating for students to get the services they need – and to which they are legally entitled.
Because I am dedicated to ensuring students get the education they deserve, another service I offer is that of special education advocacy. As an advocate I help families navigate the ins and outs of the special education system. This includes everything from helping them know how to request an evaluation for services, understanding the evaluation and eligibility process, knowing their rights and responsibilities, to the creation and implementation of an Individualized Education Program – or IEP. The whole process can be overwhelming and even a little intimidating, and as an advocate I help empower families to get the supports their child needs.
As an advocate, I empower families to get the supports their child needs.
My services are designed so that I can be involved at the level that is best for your family’s needs. I can conduct a paperwork review to read through assessment results, eligibility documents, or IEPs to give you feedback on the content. I can also accompany you to any meetings related to your child’s education as a liaison once prior notification has been given to the school. Although some policy guidelines change from district to district, the overall federal laws that drive the policies do not – which is why I can be of service regardless of where you physically live. I provide both in-person and virtual services in order to be able to help as many families as possible.
As part of my commitment to helping as many families as possible, I am dedicated to providing equitable access to my advocacy services. My fees are based on a case by case basis after an intake meeting where we fully discuss your needs, the ways I can help, and determine a plan for working together. I don’t ever want a family to feel they have no one to help them due to a lack of financial resources because every child deserves the very best.
If you believe that you or someone you know would benefit from my expertise, please email me directly at kimberlyfreyconsulting@gmail.com to set up a consultation so that we can discuss your needs further. Let me support you with the same passion that I have my students over the last twenty years.
